@ShadowyZephyr Honestly, I don't know how any of this works.
If The Crew decides that shitposting is indeed tanking their future options and they have to peg it down a notch or two, I want the people who supported them also be beneficiaries of that decision instead of punishing them for lack of faith and voting NO.
And if they wouldn't... I'm not sure I would want to belong here anyway.
I think this kind of thing is pretty funny to happen once in a while! Definitely don't want self-referential games to be the main thing Manifold is known for, but in this case I especially appreciate the effort @CodeandSolder went to in order to set this up and make it a good & fun experience for participants (eg writing a bot to automate the action).
@Austin This could've waited until frontpage mechanics are implemented. Currently it is hogging common resource of attention-worthy items.
@ShadowyZephyr that's a shame. They risk entrenching shitposting and driving away real stuff until only shitposting remains.
@ICRainbow Thereβs a gray area between happily allowing shitposting and not having fun ever, under any circumstance. I think this is ok as long as we donβt get flooded by shitposting.
@Denial the problem is that we, currently, are flooded with #fun posts, so to speak.
Even blocking left and right isn't working and occasionally one or another ussy ends up on my screen.
@Sailfish While I'm not opposed to fun and only somewhat opposed to "will I fart before 2040" stuff, the non-existent curation and barely-working filtering taking the signal-to-noise ratio below the "I want to be here" level. Pacifism/gardens, evaporative cooling of communities, etc.
