This market resolves to 'YES' if, before January 1, 2028, the UK government legally enacts a new law mandating compulsory military service for its citizens. The legislation must require any UK citizen or subgroup thereof (e.g. restricted by age, gender or profession) to serve in the UK Armed Forces. This includes any form of mandatory enlistment, regardless of duration or capacity (combat or non-combat roles).

It does not count if the legislation is only proposed or discussed without formal enactment. Non-military national service, or voluntary enlistment incentives do not qualify.

The outcome is determined by the passage of a law, not its implementation or enforcement.

This is now official policy of Sunak’s conservatives, so maybe it should tick up a bit? Probably not a lot though, given how bad his odds look.

@Noit Yeah... his odds are so bad I don't expect an uptick

What about national service where you have a choice between a military option or a non-military option?

predicts NO

@Fion Would still resolve YES as presumably some people would choose the military and thus have been conscripted into the military.
