I am a 29 year old in Seattle, and intend to start trying for pregnancy around November 2023.
I would strongly prefer to have a community of parents who are selected for something stronger than "has kids in the same daycare", but there is no such community in Seattle, whereas my spouse and I are friends/acquaintances with five Berkeley parenting units.
The primary argument against moving is the standard of living downgrade (room size, crime).
I intend to interview Berkeley rationalist parents on their parenting experiences during several upcoming in-person visits. If there isn't much of a "parenting community", I will choose not to move. If there seems to be one, or enough potential to create one by hustling/grindset/whatever, I will probably move.
Oakland counts as Berkeley.
@MatthewGrayc2b2 Should have followed up on this earlier, will understand if you don't see this in time: I am in the Bay this weekend (Aug 25-27). I have a few couples in mind to speak to but would love more intros. I am reachable at etirabys at gmail.
