August Update! This is the first update and more are coming. I have started applying -- my progress will be tracked in this spreadsheet . I am currently improving my C++ knowledge by writing a couple of projects, but I have not put them on my resume. Additionally, I am returning to regularly solving LeetCode to get used to solving problems fast. So far I got 0 rejections and a very easy OA at Citadel - solved both problems in ~15-20 minutes out of allocated 66. To mark the beginning of my application process, I have increased the subsidy to 3k. Stay tuned!
Dear Manifold Network, I am thrilled to announce that I got my first rejection in this hiring season! The news come from DRW, a trading firm and I am literally speechless. First, it seems like the OA wasn't sent automatically and had a very limited time frame for completion making it sound like there was a stage of prescreening,The OA at their place was by far the easiest among those that I have completed -- probably 2nd easiest among all of my OAs landing right after Microsoft OA I did in March 2022. I didn't struggle and came up with a correct solution for all of the problems in 55 minutes of 3 hours allocated for them, additionally I have solved all of the tasks in C++, as the email with the invite recommended to do so as they were aiming to hire some C++ devs. The tasks were easy, 1nd and 3rd taking only 5-7 mins each, but the 2nd was annoying due to a shitty input data that needed to be preprocessed, thus delaying my solution on that one. But it is what it is, I hope that other OAs that went as smoothly as this one won't turn out that bad for me. See you in the next update!
Dear Manifold Network, NEW UPDATE ALERT I was doing a lot of OA this weekend -- check my progress in this spreadsheet. As a result, Optiver returned to me and we are moving forward! The next step is a behavioural interview, which I passed the last time I took it in 2022, so should be a smooth one after some prep. See you again later!
Dear Manifold Network, NEW UPDATE ALERT I just did the behavioural interview with Optiver. However, after the interview, I wasn't quite sure if I passed, due to talking quite a lot about one of my biggest negative experiences in terms of collaboration and myself. Nevertheless, I got through and I have basically repeated my internship hiring PR - reaching a technical screening. I have never gotten past this, but as I now have more experience and know what to expect, I have scheduled the interview in 2 weeks and will be preparing for it now. Additionally, the HRT OA that I did recently came back positive and I will now have a tech screen in 1.5 weeks. My progress is in this spreadsheet as usual. See you after the screenings!

Hey everyone! As the pivot is approaching I have decided to heavily invest in a question about myself, as I don't think I will be able to withdraw money from Manifold later. So, I decided to create this question with a massive subsidy, relative to my budget - 1000. Not only will I subsidize this market - all unique trader bonuses earned before the pivot, + all free money after it will be spent on this market in the form of subsidy or buying YES shares. Additionally, I will share monthly updates on my progress.

So, the question is, will I find an internship? Most of the info can be found on my CV on LinkedIn, but I will also provide some insights.

I have a few issues.

  • I am currently finishing my Bachelor's in CS and I got into the MSc at ETH Zurich. If all the visa and housing problems go smoothly, I will be starting the program this year.

  • I am a non-EU national, so finding an internship in Switzerland will be impossible due to regulations and I would need to find one abroad, in a country that doesn't require a university to submit an approval of work for a work permit application. Potential options as far as I know are the UK, Netherlands, Canada, Spain, and Germany.

  • I will be aiming for a spring internship due to the way the study semester is made in ETH - lectures until the end of May, and actual exams - in August.

What companies am I targeting?

Any of the companies that are willing to take me xD

To be honest, I would love to work in trading as a software engineer, as I find myself really comfortable with all the math problems, DSA, and C++, so that sounds like a good option to me. I am working on improving my CV in that area - a few small projects I will finish during the summer + part of the graduation project can be published as a stand-alone data structure implementation.

What is the resolution criteria?

Easy as that - if I get myself a temporary software engineer job with a duration of a couple of months outside of my university in 2025, the market resolves as YES.

Otherwise - resolves NO

How can you help?

  • If you have any referrals, especially trading - please shoot an email to the address found here kozyr.xyz/about

  • Feel free to ask any questions in the comments, the description will be updated if I find the information important enough to be mentioned.

  • Boost or subsidize the question to get more people to know about this -> more chance to get a referral.

As part of the pivot, this market is updated to a higher tier and I am going all-in on YES

Just to clarify, are you applying for summer internships as well as spring internships?

Currently, yes but to be honest I haven't applied to any specific Spring posting, as there are not many. I will try to negotiate with any company, to start my internship in May/April. However, any internship will do for the YES resolution.
